There is a lot of sources of college admission assistance just for prospective students. This assistance comes in many different forms. School counselors and advisors are one place to start if you need help with the admissions process. Of course, there are plenty of resources online also. You'll find websites and online courses that can help prepare you for admissions. In addition, there are a number of books devoted to the subject of getting into college. One title you may want to check out is Winning The College Admissions Game: Strategies for Parents and Students by Peter Van Buskirk.

One important part of admissions is financial aid. Most students require financial aid in some form or another. There are student loans, grants and scholarships that can help alleviate some of the financial strain caused by education expenses. Students who could not otherwise afford to go to college can do so thanks to the various financial aid programs available. You can find out more about the various programs available by talking to a financial aid officer at the university of your choice. You may also want to talk to your high school guidance counselor. There is also plenty of information available from the U.S. Department of Education.

To learn more about the many scholarship programs out there, try searching the Internet. There are all kinds of scholarships. For example, there are scholarships especially for minority groups and/or women. There are scholarships that focus on a particular area of study, such as science or math, for example. Some scholarships are more general in nature and are open to all potential students. There are scholarships for small amounts of money all the way up to scholarships that cover your entire education. Usually the small scholarships are easier to get and awarded to a larger number of students.

When seeking college admission assistance you should start your search as soon as possible. The junior year of high school is an optimum time to begin the college application preparation process. This is a great time to get advice on subjects related to college and plan what you need to do and when you need to do it. Giving yourself plenty of time is important because many applications for college and financial aid have strict deadlines. If received after the specified date, your application will not be considered.
